Feeding the world will be one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century.

It will be impossible without using scientific advancements and biotechnology.

Introduction

Biotechnology is a combination of multiple disciplines. It consists of technology, chemistry, mathematics and biology. Biotechnology is the use of biological processes, organisms, or systems to manufacture products intended to improve the quality of human life.

In simple terms, biotechnology combines technology and biology. It uses cellular and bio-molecular processes to create technologies and products that will improve the quality of our lives.

Dr. Kiran Mazumdar  shah is a famous biotechnologist from India. Her love for biotechnology led her to study BSc Zoology in Bangalore India and subsequently studied Masters in brewing technology abroad. After her studies she set up her lab to innovate products related to her research. She also worked as a Trainee in Ireland to gain hands-on experience in her research   work. She subsequently started working for many companies and as her research expanded she started her own biotech company known as 'Biocon'. Biocon is a world-famous biotech company for producing medicines and pharmaceuticals. They have also recently produced medicines for the first stages of cancer. She is regarded as a world-famous personality in biotechnology and TIMES magazine also noted her as women of power to watch last year. She ranks powerful women from India list too.

The ideal skill a biotechnologist or likely Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon had are interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial skills, in-depth academic knowledge, hands-on practical experience and above all a strong passion for the subject of study.
